Apcalis® Viagra ConnectApcalis® Viagra Connect is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
Objectives:The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of the combination of Viagra and sildenafil on the plasma levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction (ED) and normal function in order to gain a better understanding of the potential drug interaction.
Methods:A total of 30 men with mild to moderate ED (ED 10-20 mm Hg) and normal function in the supine position and a control condition were included in this study. The men were instructed to take a 50-mg oral dose of sildenafil (Viagra) in the morning and 50-mg oral dose of the placebo (placebo) in the supine position for 3 consecutive days. Blood samples were collected before, during and after each treatment period to evaluate plasma PGE2 concentrations.
Results:In a separate group of men, a high-dose combination of Viagra and sildenafil, with the exception of a high-dose combination of Viagra and sildenafil, was found to be more effective than placebo in improving erectile function in the supine position and in increasing the plasma level of PGE2 after a single administration of the combination therapy. The mean plasma levels of PGE2 in the combination group were significantly higher than those in the placebo group.
Conclusion:The combination of Viagra and sildenafil in men with mild to moderate ED may offer a better opportunity for the improvement of erectile function, and this may be a potential drug interaction between Viagra and sildenafil.
